Setting up a bank account on Lanzarote

A Spanish account smooths island life in Lanzarote — for wages, rent, bills and tax. Banks want a particular set of papers, and the account you can open turns on your residence status.

Resident or non-resident

Hold a NIE and a padrón entry in Lanzarote and you can open a full resident account. Without residence you can still open a non-resident account using a "certificado de no residente". We tell you which suits you and prepare the paperwork.

The usual papers

  • Passport or ID
  • Your NIE number
  • Proof of address (the padrón or a utility bill)
  • Proof of work or income status
