Opening a bank account in Lanzarote

A Spanish bank account makes life in Lanzarote far easier — for salary, rent, utilities and taxes. Banks ask for specific documents, and which account you can open depends on your residence status.

Resident vs non-resident accounts

If you hold a NIE and are registered in Lanzarote you can open a full resident account. Without residence you can still open a non-resident account with a "certificado de no residente". We tell you which fits and prepare the paperwork.

Typical documents

  • Passport or ID
  • NIE number
  • Proof of address (empadronamiento or utility bill)
  • Proof of employment or income status
